It's been quite inactive here lately so I decided to watch one of the movie cases I hadn't watched yet and share my thoughts, maybe stir things up a bit again. I think this movie has a lot in common with Arthur and Mary Linton's relationship. This was pointed out by Praetor_Peregrinus in the original topic but I'd like to expand on it.
When Arthur and Mary were young they were romantically involved but it ended because of Arthur's outlaw lifestyle getting in the way of their relationship: reddead.fandom.com/wiki/Mary_LintonThis is similar to the relationship between Maggie Hayes and John Henry Lee. When they were young Maggie had a crush on John Henry to the chagrin of Oren Hayes but in the end she married Oren. Oren believes the only reason she married him instead of John Henry was because of John Henry being sent to prison for 20 years. The movie itself doesn't seem to directly state why she chose one over the other but she is shown to still care about both of them. It could be said that John Henry's outlaw lifestyle getting him sent to prison was what kept him and Maggie apart.
Again in both situations the former couples are reunited many years after their initial romance ended, in RDR2 when Mary asks Arthur for help rescuing Jamie from the Chelonians and in the movie when Maggie arrives by stage coach at the end of the movie.
Lastly both couples part again with the male receiving something to remember the woman by. In a letter parting ways Mary leaves Arthur the engagement ring he had given her many years ago: In the movie Oren gives John Henry a photograph of Maggie to remember her by as he sends John Henry away to Canada.
Arthur and Mary's relationship plays out quite similarly to John Henry and Maggie's relationship.
As such I think the Preacher was hinting at the relationship between Arthur Morgan and Mary Linton with this movie.
EDIT: I forgot to mention another connection I noticed between the movie and the character of Arthur Morgan. In the movie all of the main characters have difficulty adjusting to being old and wonder if they can still survive as outlaws or law men. In RDR2 I don't think Arthur is actually very old but he still complains about getting old quite a bit throughout the game, which is similar to the aging characters in the movie.

Benefactor69 , I think you should submit your thesis. After watching all the missions provided by Mary Linton, it has a strong connection to the film. As you mentioned their romance started at their youth. Arthur confessed that their love ended a long time ago: Not sure if this supports the thesis, but transportation was shown twice in the missions: Train and Tram (The film shown the train twice from the beginning and the end)
